Privacy policy

Last updated June 29, 2026

Banneton is private by nature. The app does not collect personal data about you. Your starters, feeds, bakes, recipes, and photos live on your device and sync only through your own iCloud account. There is no Banneton account, and we run no server that stores your content.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you, by default. We do not use analytics that identify you, we do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell or share your personal information. The only third parties that receive any data connected to your use of Banneton are Apple, which processes your purchases, and RevenueCat, which manages your subscription status on our behalf. Both are described below.

Where your data lives

All of your content is stored locally using Apple’s on-device storage. If you are signed in to iCloud and have it enabled, Apple syncs your content to your private iCloud database so it appears on your other devices. That sync is handled by Apple under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. We cannot see it. We keep your content only on your device and your iCloud, for as long as you choose to keep it, until you delete it.

Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat as our service provider to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives purchase and receipt information from Apple and an app-generated identifier so it can tell us whether your subscription is active. It does not receive your baking data or your personal content. RevenueCat acts on our behalf under a contract that requires it to protect this data and use it only to provide the service to us, consistent with this policy. See Apple’s privacy policy and RevenueCat’s privacy policy for how they handle purchase data.

Photos

If you add a photo to a feed or a bake, the app uses your photo library only to attach the image you choose. Photos stay on your device and in your iCloud. They are not uploaded to us.

Importing a recipe

If you import a recipe from a link, the app fetches that page directly from the website you choose so it can read the recipe on your device. That website may record the request as it would any visit. If you import a recipe from a photo, the text is read on your device. Either way, the parsed recipe stays on your device, and nothing is sent to us.

Diagnostics

Banneton records anonymous usage and diagnostic events on your device using Apple’s built-in logging, to help us understand which features are used and to catch crashes. These stay on your device. If you choose to share crash and performance data with developers in your iOS settings, Apple may provide it to us in an aggregated form that does not identify you. We use no third-party analytics or crash-reporting tools.

Children

Banneton is a general-audience baking app and is not directed to children. Because we do not collect personal data, we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your choices

You are in control of your content. You can delete any starter, feed, or bake in the app at any time, and you can use Settings to delete all of your data from your device at once. You can export your records to CSV. To remove everything, you can also delete the app, which removes its on-device data, and remove its iCloud data from your Apple ID settings.

California privacy rights

We do not collect personal information that identifies you, and we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used under California law, so there is no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link to provide. If you are a California resident, you still have the rights to know what personal information a business has collected, to delete it, to correct it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Because your content lives on your device and your own iCloud, you can exercise the rights to access and delete it directly in the app. To ask a question or make a request about any data Apple or RevenueCat process for purchases, email us at [email protected] and we will help, including by directing you to the right party. We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for personal information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the new version here. We review it at least once a year.
